Starting a wedding scrapbook...

Starting a wedding scrapbook now...  Paid all that money and I'm cutting the magazines up with an exacto knife, lol.  Fortunately I have a few extra 12x12 scrapbooks on hand, so I'm using one of those.   I was going to use an 8x8 I had specifically for weddings, but I realized that the full-page pics were probably not going to fit, and it would make things very cramped in any case.   I'm starting with wedding dresses, and going from there.

That is the great thing about having lots of time :)

The funny thing is, unexpectedly, as I was going through magazines searching for wedding dresses, was my 11 year old daughter was very interested in looking at all the dresses, too, and telling me which ones she thought were pretty.  When she found out she was going to be a bridesmaid (as opposed to her previous role as a flower girl at my brother's wedding) she became interested all over again, looking for bridesmaid dresses for herself that she liked.  She even asked if she could make her own scrapbook of dresses she liked for herself.  (This is coming from someone who has displayed almost-zero interest in scrapbooking despite my own passion for it, she just isn't a crafty girl for the most part.)  So we spent an afternoon going through all the magazines...  Older ones first, I am going through the new ones today.

It's harder, because I am picky, and so I am taking out a few I like the whole dress, but many I like a certain aspect of the dress, like the style of the top, or the style of the bottom, or the style of the back.  I'm not pasting anything until I can go through them all and see what I like best.  Not sure what I will do with the ones that are "aspect-oriented".  Well, I've got one pasted, and one ready for pasting, but that's it.

Anyway...  Fiance will be home soon and I've got dishes to do and hamburger for tacos to look for, and still one more magazine to go, so I better get going...

New wedding magazines... I'm so excited!

Yesterday, while we were grocery shopping, I picked up some *brand new* wedding magazines.  With my fiance's ok, of course--in any case, he got some new movies which is something he enjoys.  He, being a lawyer, would argue I get to enjoy them too, since I will be watching them with him...  I'd argue, that well, he'll get to enjoy this wedding, too...  And that, he wouldn't be buying wedding magazines on his own, I wouldn't be buying movies on my own...  LOL.  The argument that never happened, tee hee, as my daughter would say.  (She would also say, "YAY, ME!" LOL.)

Anyway I am very, very excited.  Being a passionate scrapbooker, I immediately want to make a scrapbook of the dresses I like...  And anything else I find that strikes me.  When I tried to narrow it down to only a few (2 of them were the really big ones that are a lot more expensive but actually have stuff in them besides wedding dresses, which is what 75-90% of the others seem to have...) I kept finding a dress that was the exact type that either my fiance or I liked.  We joked about just tearing a page out, but didn't figure the store would appreciate it, LOL.  So I got 2 more that way, and then went running back for the one with the local wedding directory because I realized that even if we didn't need to plan things like photographers or cake artists or florists at this point, we do need to figure out where we want to have it.  Reception venues and places like that sometimes need to be booked 2 years in advance.  So...  I ended up with 5 magazines.  And, have I said yet how excited I am?  Looking through magazines is fun, and finding the little treasures and making a book out of them just as fun, so I am a happy girl :).

The only thing (as far as weddings go) that will make me even happier is getting a wedding software program so I can start planning the guest list and things like that.  And yes, I know, I can make a table out of Microsoft Word with a little more work, but it is a lot more fun with a program.  I know this because I tried one out some time ago...  A year ago maybe.  But I decided to get a different one because it was the one that got consistently good reviews.  It's too hard, trying to look at them all, they have so many of the same features but then there are all these differences you need to balance out, and it could just drive you crazy.  It's like trying to look up reviews on a printer or a camera (both of which I've done), by the end of it, most of the time, you have equally good and bad reviews from *somewhere*.  Although...  I could get the trial.  By the time the trial was over, I could probably get the program...  I do have a devious mind, LOL.

Well, I've got to say, this is putting me in a good mood, 'cause I'm sick and you wouldn't even know it.  (Zicam--tastes HORRIBLE, but it works pretty well, at least I'm not hacking and coughing, and my chest feels reasonably uncongested.)

Um...  except it's now noon, and I just realized I haven't eaten yet or taken my meds.  The dangers of the 'net.

Invitations: Planning & Postage

This is for the more practical, less creative side of invitations:  the who & how many of the guests, the address & return address labels, the size of the invitation, the cost of sending an invitation of that size, and so on.  Perhaps even the planning of the invitation itself.  Although that could end up being another post altogether...
